ABOUT US

Being of dual Mauritian-Trinidadian heritage, our love of jewellery was rooted from an early age from our Grandmothers. They used to adorn themselves daily as a form of self-expression, from bangles jingling up their arms, anklet charms singing with every step, to nose rings as bold as can be. 

DEFYING CONVENTION

With such a love and passion for jewellery, it was disheartening not to see ourselves or identify with what was presented within the conventional representations of jewellery and fashion. We knew we (and possibly you too, if you’re a fellow melanin rich fabulous woman) were more than just a token gesture. We all deserved more. The narrative had to change, and so STELLAR 79 was born, and the Sisterhood is what powers it.

An inclusive and diverse brand, rooted and powered by it’s growing global Sisterhood community. A community for all, especially those who have ever felt overlooked can belong, feel seen, heard and empowered.

OUR HERITAGE

The jewellery collections are inspired by our passion for art, fashion, travel and culture across the South Asian diaspora and designed by us in our East London HQ. Whilst travelling around India, we fell in love with the beauty of Jaipur, and its rich history with jewellery. So felt passionate that it was right to come full circle, reflecting our heritage, by working with carefully selected jewellery ateliers, where skilled artisans work their magic to make each piece come alive.

MEET THE SISTERS

NATASHA

Part 1: The serious part

Whilst growing up I was surrounded by the most amazing strong women who whilst adorning themselves with jewellery, were trying to challenge stereotypes and break barriers in their careers and society. 

This led me to start my career in jewellery, with my first job working for a luxury jewellery brand. I adored visual merchandising and helping customers select luxurious pieces for themselves and their loved ones. This only cemented my love of jewels. 

Driven by this, and the unfortunate experiences I had as a 9 year old due to my gender, this drove me to study Sociology and Women Studies and complete my masters. I was determined to continue breaking barriers and champion women’s rights. Following this I worked for both high street and luxury fashion houses.

Part 2: The fun part 

Just remember I’m your number one fan, your hype girl. 

My motto is live and let live. I’m a true virgo, a perfectionist, creative and always loyal. You will find me drinking a matcha latte and going to art exhibitions and galleries. I once met Valentino in Central London and had a nice chat (via his interpreter) and I danced on stage with Prince. There is more, but my lips are sealed – NDA contracts.

SHEENA

Part 1: Where it all began..

With my love affair of make-up. I remember watching my Mum getting ready for work and being fascinated by her artistry. After finishing university, I worked as a national make-up artist where every face became my canvas. I soon delved deeper into the world of beauty by transitioning into PR working for global beauty and fragrance brands such as Estee Lauder, Clinique, Tommy Hilfiger and Versace, to working with niche luxury brands like Vaishaly, Oskia and Ole Henriksen amongst others.

SHEENA

Part 2: The good stuff

My motto is “more is more”.

A typical Libra, with a dry wit, punchy one liners and a guilty pleasure for rom-coms and RuPaul’s Drag Race, because balance is everything. I’m a true selenophile, the power of the moon and crystals intrigue me.

Travelling the world is my obsession and inspiration, I have visited over 30 countries and counting. India, the Galapagos Islands, Mauritius and Trinidad have stolen my heart. It was whilst travelling in India that I designed my very first bespoke ring. It was a euphoric and life changing moment which set me on the path to creating STELLAR 79.

One of my most memorable moments was stroking Prince’s face when he stage dived at Koko club, and my only thought was ‘I wonder what foundation he wears’.

I couldn’t be without my sister, my pup Ruby Star, and a fiery red lip.
